Hey everyone!!! 🙂

Now this blog post is LOOONNNGGGGG awaited, including the video I wont lie!! I get asked about how my intermittent fasting is going at least 2/3 times a week on social media! It’s actually quite crazy! Anyway, I wanted to get into the hang of it before I started speaking about it, and here we are!! 🙂

If you are not familiar with what intermittent fasting is please research it and check it out. It is essentially in a nutshell, a voluntary fasting method you put your body through. You go through a certain allocated time during the day and night where you are fasting and where you are not. It has different fasting methods and times for fasting and eating. I am currently on the 16/8 method, which means I eat for 8 hours in the day, but fast for 16 hours too, where i do not ingest anything but water or green tea, but for a lot of that time, I’m sleeping too, so that helps 🙂

Read up on it, it’s quite interesting. 🙂

Well, as you guys know I’ve been on this healthy eating journey for almost 3 years now, and honestly it has been the best thing I’ve ever done for my life 🙂 Now, even with my healthy eating, weight loss was always a THING for me as well, I needed to eat healthily, but at the same time work on reducing my size purely for health purposes. With my healthy eating journey, it lost a TON of weight (18kgs) , and as much as I was proud of myself, I was still 7kgs shy of my goal weight.

As much as I was eating healthy, my weight had reached a point where it had plateaued, and pretty much wasn’t budging any further. As much as I was ok with that, I still felt I could push a little bit more on the weight loss. This is when I was introduced to Intermittent Fasting. One of my friends Roxanne, was already doing it for a few months, so I consulted her and spoke to her about, and weight loss was one of the things she mentioned as a definite! Therefore, I decided to give it a try, knowing very well that I might hate it. 🙁 She suggested I try it with Apple Cider Vinegar as well, and even though I HATE vinegar, I opted to give it a shot.

I decided to buy the ACV that she recommended, the Bragg’s ACV with the mother and WOW this ACV is horrendous! Initially is was the hardest thing for me to drink every morning and evening before I slept. I couldn’t stand the taste, but ironically now, I really like it in a glass first thing in the morning. ACV has great digestive properties. Kills harmful bacteria, helps you lose belly fat and weight, and lowers your blood sugar levels. It’s really amazing! Read up on it!

My IF method is the 16/8 method. I suggest you read up on this, it will make the following easier to understand.

FASTING TIME: 16 hours- from 8pm to 12pm the the next day.

NON FASTING (EATING TIME)- 8 hours- from 12pm to 8pm.

I still eat healthily (well, I didnt maintain this in December, I wont lie I struggle), but I’m BACK on the wagon as soon as January 2019 hit 🙂 I just eat now, at a certain time of the day, which means my “breakfast” is at 12pm everyday! So as you can imagine, I hardly have breakfast food much anymore unless I STILL want oats or eggs at 12pm LOL! Initially, it was HARD as I LOVE breakfast and if you follow my social media, you will know this, my stomach was GROWLING around 10am in the first few days of IF. The ACV made me gag, and argggg it just wasn’t a fun time in the first week. However, I stuck it out, and now, 3 months later, I can say it is STILL going QUITE well! 🙂 In December, I struggled with eating at 12pm, and would sometimes eat at 10am or 11. Never earlier than 10, and I would ensure that I stop eating around 6pm. So I would keep the 8 hr window still. 🙂

Now, I STILL do IF on a daily basis and am religious with my ACV daily, but my meal intake has reduced from having 3 small sized portion meals a day, to sometimes having just 2 meals a day, it all just depends on whether I want to eat or not. My portion sizes are still very much controlled.

In terms of what I’ve wanted to accomplish, IF has REALLY been helping!! I do not want to lie, I’ve been SHOOOKKK!!! 🙂 <3 Since beginning the IF journey, I have lost 4.2kgs to date! I started the IF journey in Oct/Nov, I can’t quite recall. For me personally, this is great, I’m in no particular rush to shed all the 7kgs in a hurry, just taking it one day at a time, and eating relatively healthily while I do so! 🙂

I have also shredded a few inches on my waist line, and I could not be happier 🙂 The thigh area is a little more tricky to lose though, and honestly, I’m just not bothered by that anymore. I recently started gym, so my weight is fluctuating a little more, as I attend gym 3 times a week, (purely for toning and firming purposes), but water weight and muscle mass has made my weight yoyo 1kg or a little more since starting. This is due to stop once I become regular at gym and my muscles adjust.

Honestly though, I have loved my IF journey, and employ anyone who would like to begin their IF journey to definitely read up on it before you do and consult your doctor too. So far for me, so good 🙂

Let me know if you’d like me to do a blog post on my Gym experience and how that goes, and if you have tried Intermittent Fasting how that’s going for you… 🙂
